Limits, billing, and what happens when you change your mind.
- What happens when I hit my monthly limit?
- Requests over your monthly quota return HTTP 429 with the error slug rate_limited and a Retry-After header until your billing month resets. There are no overage charges and nothing is billed automatically. If you need more room right away, upgrading takes effect immediately and the new limit applies to the rest of the current month. - How does cancellation work?
- Cancel any time from Manage subscription on your dashboard's Billing page. You keep full access to your plan until the end of the period you've already paid for; after that your account moves to the Free tier (500 requests/month) and your API keys keep working within that limit. Nothing is deleted. Go to Billing →
- Do you offer a free trial?
- No trial is needed — the Free tier is permanent. Sign up without a credit card, get 500 requests a month for vehicle lookup, VIN decoding, and makes and models, and upgrade only when you want more data or higher limits. Create a free account →
- Can I change plans later?
- Yes. Upgrade, downgrade, or update your payment method at any time from Manage subscription on the Billing page, which opens the secure Stripe billing portal. Your request quota and per-minute rate limit update as soon as the change is confirmed. Manage subscription →
- Do unused requests roll over?
- No. Monthly quotas reset at the start of each billing period and unused requests do not carry forward. Quotas are per account, not per API key, so creating extra keys does not add capacity.
- What does Enterprise include, and how do I get in touch?
- Enterprise plans start at 1,000,000 requests a month with custom rate limits, a dedicated support contact and SLA, invoicing, and volume pricing.
